Allison Today in the first hour we talked about nine-year-old Allison, whose mother, Crystal, wrote us to ask for prayer. About a year ago Allison began experiencing symptoms which led to the discovery of a significant tumor at the top of her spine. She underwent surgery, but the doctors were unable to completely remove the tumor. Crystal writes:
The results of the tumor came back after a couple of weeks. It was bleak news. It was an extremely rare and aggressive tumor. It was already in stage 4. Just when we thought the worst was over, we were told she had months to live. St. Jude accepted her case and since then she has completed radiation therapy, began chemo, and struggled to learn to write and walk again. The year has passed in quite a blur. Having said that, I'd like to also say, we have been privy to the most overwhelming outpouring of Christian faith and fellowship I have ever witnessed.
This brings me to why I've written you this e-mail. Her chemo has failed. The cancer has moved to her brain. She is to begin a new chemo this coming week but the doctors have told us she may have 3 or 4 months. They have seen none survive after the cancer spreads to the brain. I was wondering if you would tell some of Allison's story on air and ask people to pray. We have witnessed so many miracles since she was first diagnosed. I know the Lord has been with us the whole way. I feel him. I see him in her. I don't think he's done.
Please be praying for God's work to continue in the lives of Allison and her family. May He bring peace to their hearts and physical healing to Allison, even where none is humanly expected. Thanks for praying.
Update on Jim Warren Please continue praying for our friend and former broadcasting colleague, Jim Warren. On Sunday he was transferred from a rehab center to the hospital due to several dangerous medical issues. He's responding well to treatment, but may have sustained some kidney and liver damage. Jim's wife, Jean, would appreciate prayers for the doctors and for their family as they learn more about Jim's current health challenges.
Levi and Me Levi was at church this weekend and I had a chance to have my picture taken with him. If you hadn’t heard, Levi had major heart surgery a couple of weeks ago. That he is doing this well is nothing short of amazing to me. Thank you for your prayers. His sister pulled up his shirt and showed us his scar. I expected it to be hideous. He seemed quite proud of it. It wasn’t awful at all. In fact, I thought it would be so much worse. And it’s healing well, by my expert opinion. He fell the other day outside, which concerned his mother. I told you it would be difficult to keep him down. He can’t raise his one arm very far and he has to avoid any horseplay. As you can tell from the picture, he is one special ranch dude. Plans are firming up for a benefit concert for Levi’s hospital expenses. A Christian motorcycle group is supposed to drive to the farm where the concert will be held. There are items people are auctioning for this, including a quilt being made by one of our listeners. Evidently some of you are calling and asking how you can help. That didn’t surprise me. Thanks for continuing to pray for little Levi. I hope you enjoy seeing him as much as I did. Callers, 8/4 We talked to a couple of listeners today who could really use your prayers. One was an anonymous caller whose husband is struggling with alcoholism. She wants to stand by him but knows things can't go on the way they are. The second was Kate, who is separated from her husband right now because of his abusive behavior toward her. Please pray for wisdom for these women and healing for their hurting families, and that their husbands would open their hearts to God's leading and get the help that they need.

Janice One of our callers today was Janice, whose family is facing a possible toxic mold situation in their home. Please pray for Janice, that the Lord would give her wisdom and a calm heart, and that He would draw their family together as they seek the truth in this situation. Pray that their many questions would be answered, and that God would provide courage for the road ahead and would bring others alongside to strengthen and encourage them. Thanks for praying for Janice and her family.
Shawn A listener sent us this request this morning. Please remember Shawn as you pray this week.
I met a man named Shawn who has never known love--grew up in the projects, beaten and molested by parents, 6 siblings abandoned, just everything horrible you could imagine. Now at 49, 3 years after being hit by a train--he is bitter and been an alcoholic since 8 and HE NEEDS JESUS. Please pray--he has plans for bad behavior and HE NEEDS JESUS.
Enola We received this request from a listener named Enola. Please remember this dear lady in your prayers today.
My ex-husband, William, was murdered July 24, 2010 - shot in the back by 3 teenage boys. I loved him beyond all reason or explanation. I am having great difficulty with grief, pain, anger, depression and unforgiveness. Please pray for me for these issues and for the financial difficulty I am going through.
Update on Megan Last week we asked you to pray for 14-year-old Megan and her upcoming surgery. Here's an update we received today from her Aunt Linda:
Megan had her surgery July 30th on both feet and ankles. The surgery was scheduled for four hours, but ended up lasting for seven hours, while God faithfully held Megan in His hands and guided the hands of the surgeon. Megan had her parents and grandparents waiting to see her when they brought her to her hospital room from the recovery room, and me on the phone from many miles away. She was able to go home the next day and is recovering at home. There will be three sets of casts for both feet and ankles, the first of which comes off six weeks after the surgery when the pins are removed. The recovery time is long, and we appreciate continued prayers for Megan for God's comfort and healing, and for the successful outcome of the surgery, which will not be known for a while, and for strength for her family as they care for Megan. We praise God, The Great Physician, for His loving care for Megan. Thank you for your prayers. Aunt Linda

Jed and Vicki in Nepal A listener named Justin tells us of his friends, Jed and Vicki, who are among a group of Americans who have recently traveled to Nepal to pick up children they have adopted and bring them home. Upon arriving, they've discovered the U.S. has changed their policy regarding adoptions in Nepal and it now looks very doubtful that they'll be able to bring their babies home. Justin says, "Jed and Vicki have held their daughter, have gone through all the correct channels, only to now be in Nepal and to face that fact that the United States might not grant Nima the visas she needs to come home with them. They trust that God has brought them to this point for a reason, but ask for any help and prayer that they can get." Please pray for the families affected by this situation, and that God would work to allow Jed and Vicki to bring Nima home with them very soon.
Deaths in AfghanistanWe've been horrified by the news that a humanitarian medical team in Afghanistan was gunned down last week. Among those who died were devoted followers of Christ who wanted to provide medical aid to “the least of these.” Please join in praying for those who remain behind in Afghanistan, as well as the family members of those murdered. To read more about these aid workers and their medical ministry to the Afghan people, see Mindy Belz' article in WORLD magazine.
Financial Distress This listener wrote to us in response to last week's conversation with Ethan Pope about government assistance and reaching out to those in financial need. Here are some excerpts from her email:
For the past 17 years, our family has had serious financial difficulties. It turned exponentially worse on January 29, 2009 when my husband lost his job... We have a 17-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. My husband is still unemployed. I work part time from home, earning only $200 a month. I am actively looking for new work. My husband is looking but lately it is only half-heartedly because he is depressed and has been for a while... Needless to say, we have had public aid health insurance for quite some time... I must add, though, that my church has helped us. Also, we've been blessed by a few dear, generous friends, and anonymous donors... Yet, I do not want some family to support us. We want to work. Work is not part of the curse. God gave Adam and Eve work in the garden... I do not care about me. I am afraid for my children.
Please pray for this listener and others who have lost jobs, who want to work but are still floundering. Pray that jobs would become available, and that God would bring others alongside to help those who are hurting in this way.
Jim Warren We had some news yesterday from broadcasting friend Wayne Shepherd, who said he "just spoke with friend and former Moody Broadcasting colleague Jim Warren, who asks for prayer as he is facing more medical tests tomorrow on his liver and pancreas. Jim has been hospitalized for two straight months now." Many of you knew Jim as the long-time host of Prime Time America on Moody Radio. Please remember Jim and his family in your prayers today.
