H
ere's a bit about me. First, I'm the husband of Andrea and the father of Erin, Megan, Shannon, Ryan, Kristen, Reagan, Kaitlyn, Colin, and Brandon. Five girls, four boys. My family is what energizes me. Most of all, I want to succeed as a husband and father.

I'm also a writer. I began writing early in my life, but I didn't come back to this until much later. I've published more than 60 books since 1995, many of them fiction for younger readers. I collaborated with Jerry B. Jenkins and Dr. Tim LaHaye on the children's series Left Behind: The Kids. My two novels for adults, Dogwood and June Bug, are published by Tyndale House Publishers. Dogwood received the 2009 Christy Award in the Contemporary Standalone category.

Broadcasting has been in my blood since I was in high school. As part of the DECCA program, I worked at WNST Radio in Milton, WV. It was along the Mud River and the station manager wanted to call the station WMUD, but that was already taken. In my senior year at Marshall University, I worked for WSAZ-TV as a weekend reporter. Writing and reporting and shooting video for stories was a real kicker.

In 1981 I began dating Andrea Kessel, who worked for WKEE/WHTN in Huntington. Our relationship blossomed and we were married in December of 1982. After graduating from Marshall, Andrea and I felt there was something more for us spiritually speaking. Our pastor suggested we check out Moody Bible Institute and we packed everything in our 1978 Toyota Corolla and moved to Chicago.

After graduating from Moody's Advanced Studies Program, I began working with Moody Broadcasting in a writing position. (Interesting, isn't it?) In 1985 I began hosting Open Line, a national call-in show. I hosted that from 1985 to 1997. In 1993 I began a six-year stint as co-host of Mornings with Greg and Chris on WMBI in Chicago. It was a great six years and I enjoyed every program. In May of 2008 I began Chris Fabry Live! I received the 2008 "Talk Personality of the Year" Award from the National Religious Broadcasters.

I'm also heard daily on Love Worth Finding, featuring the teaching of the late Dr. Adrian Rogers. This is one of the proudest associations I've had in broadcasting. Dr. Rogers was truly unique and the program continues to have an impact on many listeners.

I have also worked with Reaching Your World with Luis Palau over the years, as well as Focus on the Family. In 2000, just after our family had moved to Colorado, I was allowed to sit in with Dr. Dobson for a few months while they figured out who would be the co-host for their daily program. I continue to have a good relationship with those at Focus on the Family and fill in for them from time to time.

As a writer, I've been fortunate to write a few scripts for Adventures In Odyssey, Focus on the Family's Radio Theater, and Kids Corner. I also scripted many of the Left Behind Dramatic Audio dramas.

Oh, I almost forgot. Andrea and I also co-host Building Relationships featuring Dr. Gary Chapman, the New York Times Best-selling author of The Five Love Languages. Gary is everything he seems to be on the air. This is also a wonderful association we have.

You can find out about the other books I've written elsewhere on this site. They include Spiritually Correct Bedtime Stories, Away With the Manger, The 77 Habits of Highly Ineffective Christians, The H.I.M. Book, At The Corner of Mundane and Grace, the Red Rock Mystery series (with Jerry B. Jenkins), The Wormling series (with Jerry B. Jenkins), and RPM, a racing series for children. I also co-wrote a book with Ohio State Buckeyes Coach Jim Tressel titled The Winners Manual.

I've also had the privilege to narrate several audio books by authors such as Dr. Gary Smalley, Michael Reagan, Dr. Kevin Leman, Ted Dekker, Dr. Gary Chapman, Francine Rivers, Ken Gire, Randy Alcorn, and Bill Hybels. I was nominated for an Audie Award for my performance of Love the Life You Live by Neil Clark Warren and Les Parrott.

I graduated from the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. I still keep in touch with my college advisor, Bos Johnson, who had a great impact on me.

In October, 2008, after a lengthy time of illness for our family, we vacated our home in Colorado because of a toxic mold problem. We left everything behind and put down our two dogs, Pippen and Frodo. Seeking medical help, we finally found it near Tucson, Arizona and moved there in early 2009. In May, 2010, our home sold for the cost of the loan. That chapter is closed. We're still working through the legal process to give us some relief.
