Tricia and Nate
On the program today I mentioned that our producer, Tricia, and her husband, Nate, had some items stolen from their apartment yesterday. Even presents taken from their home they had intended for family. Here’s what Nate wrote back to us:
"It makes us realize the desperation that overcomes people when it comes to money (especially around Christmas time). Whether it was need or greed that drove them, these thieves were desperate enough to risk breaking into someone else’s home and taking things that didn’t belong to them. We’re not trying to justify their actions, but our society has turned money into such a god that people are willing to do anything to get it. We’re not really mad, and don’t even really care if the thieves get caught. What Chris said about looking forward to the place where moth and rust (and mold) does not destroy and where thieves don’t come in and steal washed over each of us in a new way. It just makes us long for eternity. We’ve been praying that the thieves’ parents will intervene. We’re assuming they’re young, and pray they will get guidance, and not have a life marked with crime that ends in a miserable cycle of prison and desperation."
